Learn more aboutTapestry here ( About the role: Tapestry, a fast-paced team within X (formerly Google X) is looking for a power system specialist with a strong background in distribution planning and a deep understanding of the challenges distribution utilities are facing. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in working with both the external partners as well as the internal cross functional team in Tapestry, focusing on distribution modeling and simulation. How you will make 10x impact: + Architect and define the next generation of grid planning workflows. Develop and translate product visions and strategy into engineering specifications and scalable user-centric design. + Serve as the deep domain thought leader for cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with software engineers, designers, product managers, and external partners. + Lead technical validation of our tools, ensuring breakthrough technology. + Pioneer methods for ingesting and normalizing complex, real-world utility data at scale. What you should have: + Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related technical fields. + 5+ years of experience in power systems analysis and distribution planning at an electric utility or consultancy. + Strong understanding of power system principles, including power flow, short circuit analysis, contingency analysis, and power factor correction. + Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g. CYME, Synergi Electric, Power Factory, GridLab-D, etc.) + Familiarity with leveraging operational datasetsu2014such as SCADA, AMI (smart meter), or OMS (outage) data. + Experience/knowledge in programming languages (e.g, Matlab, Python, JAX, C++, Julia, etc.) and automating complex studies or data handling tasks. + Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
