We are looking for a diverse staff that reflects the community we serve. The Homicide Bureau is composed of some of the most seasoned and experienced prosecutors working in one of the busiest offices in the country. While the Bronx accounts for 16% of the population of the City of New York, it saw 31% of the homicides in 2021. With the increase in violence and homicides in the Bronx, we are currently seeking experienced trial attorneys to join the Homicide Bureau. Prosecutors with a minimum of seven years and five felony jury trials will be considered. Reporting to the Chief of Homicide, with latitude for independent judgment, Homicide ADAs handle complex and sensitive cases from investigation through trial. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: u2022 Prosecute homicides from investigation through trial u2022 Serve rotations of 24-hour on-call duty u2022 Respond to crime scenes u2022 Conduct witness and/or defendant interviews u2022 Draft search warrants, trap and traces, and cell site orders u2022 Present homicide cases to the grand jury u2022 Establish and maintain relationships with witnesses and surviving families. u2022 Handle a high-volume caseload efficiently and effectively u2022 All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS u2022 Juris Doctor degree required u2022 Minimum of 7 years of criminal trial experience u2022 Minimum of 5 violent felony jury trials u2022 U.S. citizenship and New York State residency are required as of first day of employment u2022 Member in good standing of the NY State Bar, evidenced by provision of an original current certificate of good standing u2022 Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics u2022 Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills u2022 Exhibit an ability to maintain confidentiality of information u2022 Ability to analytically solve issues or problems from inception through conclusion u2022 Ability to excel in a fast-paced work environment and handle a high volume of cases u2022 Ability to work nights, holidays and weekends as needed We appreciate your interest in a position with the Bronx District Attorney's Office.
