Role Number: 200615747-0836 Summary The SPEAR team in Appleu2019s Security Engineering & Architecture organization is hiring a collaborative software quality assurance engineer with a drive to ensure the quality of ambitious software security features.SPEAR is a dedicated team of engineers who work on security hardening across all of Appleu2019s operating systems. We work in a variety of codebases in all layers of the software stack. We develop meaningful and impactful security features that require meticulous test development and execution to land cleanly and successfully. Our work results in major improvements to the security of Appleu2019s apps and services without compromising the polished user experience over a billion users rely on every day.As a Quality Assurance engineer in SPEAR, you will test SPEARu2019s features to ensure they achieve their security goals while maintaining functionality, stability, and performance requirements. You will work side-by-side with SPEAR software developers during all project phases, collaborating on feature definition, quality plan, and test development. You will gain experience testing software across a wide range of Appleu2019s software stack. Your work will be key to the SPEAR teamu2019s goal of exceeding partner teamsu2019 expectations for feature quality. Description As an Automation QA Engineer in the SPEAR team, you will be qualifying a variety of SPEAR-developed features.This will include:- Coordinating with feature teams to embrace existing automation suites.- Develop comprehensive feature test plans to ensure the feature achieves its goals without regressing functionality, performance, power, or stability.- Implement new tests when needed to achieve adequate coverage.- Automate end-to-end and unit-level testing.- Manage automated testing and triage test failures.- Report on testing status and follow up to ensure regressions are addressed. Minimum Qualifications + Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience + Software skills with automation languages such as Python and Swift + Demonstrated experience creating tests that identify deep software bugs + Ability to communicate clearly and effectively about technical topics (verbal and written) Preferred Qualifications + 3+ years of iOS and/or macOS QA experience + Comprehension of XCTest framework + Analytical skills to independently perform first-level triage on test failures + Meticulous approach to understanding, documenting, and completing test requirements Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
