Summary The VA Central Texas Health Care System is seeking Radiology Diagnostic (Deputy Chief) for Imaging Service at the Austin VA Clinic. Physicians should apply to CAZM-12843483-26-JMS Responsibilities This is an Open Continuous Announcement & will remain open until May 13, 2026, or until all positions are filled. The first cut-off date is December 19, 2025. Daily work assignments are assigned by the Chief/Deputy Chief of the Imaging Service. Prescreening pending orders as required/necessary. Overall responsibility for the daily operation of the department. Troubleshoots issues and establishes process improvements as necessary to streamline processes within the department. Serves on several committees as designated by the Chief, Imaging Service Ensures the Internal Peer Reviews program is monitored, and addresses issues identified. Ensures the On-going Provider Performance Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Provider Performance Evaluation (FPPE) processes are in place and utilized to evaluate radiologist performance. Reviews new equipment/replacement equipment requirements are identified, and equipment is ordered. Oversite of Waco, Austin and the CBOCs for all radiologic needs. Ensures Waco and Austin are managing patient workload, pending orders and staffing to support the overall Imaging Service. Overall responsibility for ensuring all administrative actions is completed in a timely fashion. Performs Acting Chief duties in the absence of the Chief.
