Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Chicago Field Office, Area Port of Cleveland, UPS Courier Hub Louisville, KY, located in Louisville, KY. Responsibilities Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $105,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to$137,000.00 (GS-13, Step 10). In this first-line supervisory position you will become a key member of a team of Homeland Security professionals detecting and preventing terrorists and instruments of terror from entering the U.S. Typical work assignments include: Supervising shift operations, providing technical advice on import and export of cargo and merchandise and articles accompanying persons; international mail compliance; arrival or departure of vessels, aircraft, and vehicles involved in international trade; and/or counterterrorism and anti-smuggling activities; including apprehension, detention and arrest of those suspected of violating such laws and regulations. Providing guidance and training, communicating intelligence and enforcement information, disseminating new procedures and policy changes. Monitoring daily task-related training and reviewing monthly training records of assigned CBPO (Canine) to identify remedial training needs. Enforcing all requirements pertaining to the safe handling of dogs, and maintains strict supervision over the canine officers and dogs while conducting training to ensure compliance with safe handling practices.
