This position will provide facility oversight, ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for participants, and provide positive community engagement for healthy lifestyles. Norfolk's Department of Parks & Recreation is proud to announce it has been awarded national accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies. This ensures we will continue to provide quality recreational services that enrich the lives of Norfolk's residents. Department Starting Salary: $42,629 Essential Functions Essential functions include but are not limited to: + Provides Personal training and/or group Fitness classes (where applicable) + Responsible for cleaning of all fitness equipment and reporting maintenance when necessary + Enforces facility rules and regulations. + Ability to lead and implement fitness programs including assessments and orientations. + Provides tours to prospect members, informing them of the facilities programs and amenities. + Completes daily cleaning, patronu2019s utilization and equipment checks. + Checks members in to the facility using Rec-trac Recreation Software + Responsible for providing top notch customer service in person and via phone. + Provides programming for Kids ages 5-14 for NFWCu2019s Youth Fit programs. + Daily operations of the facility to include patron monitoring, scheduling clients, facility maintenance and security + Demonstrate ability to effectively supervise subordinates and work in a team environment. + Responsible for supervision of the fitness floor ensuring patrons are utilizing equipment properly. Education/Experience Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training. Six months experience. Preferred candidate will have: + At least one year experience + Valid Driver's License + Have the ability to obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications within six months + Personal trainer certification and/or group fitness certification or equivalent Additional Information & Requirements Wok Location: Norfolk Fitness and Wellness Center, 7300 Newport Ave, Norfolk, VA 23505 Work Hours: Monday - Friday 6:00a-8:30p, Saturday 8:00a-5:00p + Regular full-time and permanent part-time employees may receive paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, employer paid pension plan, basic life insurance, voluntary participation in medical and dental, Section 457 deferred compensation, long-term disability, optional life insurance for self, spouse and children, medical and dependent care reimbursement plans, access to membership in credit union and employer provided parking. + Special project/grant employees are generally eligible for the same benefits of regular full-time employees; however, retirement, life insurance and participation in health plans vary depending upon funding and authorization. + Temporary/seasonal and part-time employees are generally only eligible for employer provided parking and access to membership in credit union. + Retirement If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction. If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction. + The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply.
