Job Description

CDD has an immediate need for a part-time community outreach worker toengage with youth and children and youth serving organizations inCambridge as part of its Community Engagement Team. Reporting to theCommunity Engagement Manager, a Community Outreach Worker is expected tobe a highly visible presence in Cambridge neighborhoods, supportdepartmental outreach efforts to reach a diverse community, andencourage community leadership. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Becomefamiliar with resources that CDD provides to Cambridge residents. Buildstrong relationships with youth serving providers, including schools.Engage youth in learning about CDD programs, services, and planningprocesses while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Encourage youth toparticipate in CDD public events and city planning work indevelopmentally appropriate ways. This work may include placing flyersaround the community, posting to social media, attending events, hostingfocus groups, visiting community based organizations, partnering withyouth serving organizations, implementing surveys, and other engagementopportunities. Participate in discussions and educate the staff of CDDabout outreach strategies for building relationships with communities inCambridge, including youth of all backgrounds. Attend all requiredmeetings and training sessions and complete all assignments: documentoutreach activities and participate as needed in the evaluation of theprogram. Support in removing access barriers to CDD resources, programsand planning processes. ? Reasonable accommodations may be made toenable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsMINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS: Comfortable facilitating groups of young peoplein Cambridge. English language skills to communicate fluently andspontaneously. Cambridge resident strongly preferred. Sincere desire towork with underserved and underrepresented Cambridge communities.Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, CDD programs, services, andprocesses. High motivation and good time management skills. Ability towork in a team environment. The City of Cambridge's workforce, like thecommunity it serves, is diverse. Applicants must have the ability towork and interact effectively with individuals and groups with a varietyof identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies. Familiarity withCambridge?s youth serving community preferred, and an understanding ofthe impacts of historical and structural racism on this community. Thisposition may be eligible for hybrid work under the City's TeleworkPolicy, depending on operational needs.
