Newsweek Recognizes Sedgwick as Americau2019s Greatest Workplaces National Top Companies Certified as a Great Place to Worku00ae Fortune Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance Sr National Marine Surveyor PRIMARY PURPOSE : To be responsible for the inspection of cargo damaged in transit; to investigate and review damage surveys of $1,000,000 or more; and to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES + Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages. + Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures. + Provides written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss. + Receives and reviews new claims and maintains data integrity in the claims system. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES + Performs other duties as assigned. + Supports the organization's quality program(s). + Travels as required. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Experience Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Skills & Knowledge + Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills + PC literate, including Microsoft Office products + Good customer service skills + Good organizational skills + Ability to work independently and in a team environment + Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies WORK ENVIRONMENT When applicable and appropriate, consideration will be given to reasonable accommodations. Mental : Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines Physical : + Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. + Must be able to kneel, squat or bend. + Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions. + Have the ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reaching/working overhead, + Be able lift/carry up to 50 pounds + Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds. + Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day. + Must have continual use of manual dexterity. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $110k-$120k.
