Hiring will begin immediately following the close of this recruitment. This recruitment will also establish a list for future vacancies, which will be filled as they occur. This position will assist in most routine park maintenance functions including restroom and shelter cleaning, trash removal, and basic landscaping and grounds maintenance. Examples of Essential Functions + Clean and maintain facilities, restrooms and shelters; check and replenish tissue, towels and soap; gather and remove garbage and litter from grounds and facilities, including parking lots, curbs and gutters. + Perform a variety of basic grounds maintenance functions on City parks and related facilities including trimming, edging, weed removal, graffiti removal and grounds keeping duties. + Perform routine, manual duties such as assisting with turf maintenance and repair of sprinkler heads and drip irrigation emitters; raking leaves, limbs and brush. + Operate light duty grounds equipment including push mowers, gas powered: trimmers, edgers, blowers and snow removal equipment. + Participate in planting and maintaining flower beds; prune and trim hedges, flowers and shrubs. + Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. + Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed. + Perform related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications The following minimum qualifications are required to be met at the time of application. Education: + High school diploma or equivalent. Work Experience: + One year of paid manual work in an outdoor environment, including six months of janitorial and grounds keeping or park maintenance experience. License: + Possession of a valid driver's license. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
