The Lifeguard at The Roth Family JCC of Greater Orlando, a part of Shalom Orlando, ensures the safety of all pool patrons by maintaining constant surveillance, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies. During the summer camp season, responsibilities include supervising camp swimming activities and supporting aquatics programming. Year-round positions involve maintaining pool safety for JCC members and program participants throughout the year Minimum Qualifications: SCHEDULE OPTIONSYear-Round Position Flexible scheduling options available Monday through Friday 11:00-4:00pm JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Safety and Surveillance Maintain constant surveillance of pool area and patrons Enforce all aquatics facility policies, rules, and regulations Implement required safety protocols and procedures Guide patrons in safe swimming practices Monitor pool chemistry readings when required Assist in swim testing and level assignments for campers during summer season Rescue and Emergency Response Recognize and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies Perform emergency rescues when necessary Provide first aid and CPR/AED care as needed Complete accurate documentation of all incidents and rescues Participate in regular in-service trainings and safety drills Maintain rescue equipment in good condition and readily available Facility Maintenance and Customer Service Complete regular facility safety checks Keep pool deck and surrounding areas clean and organized Report maintenance needs promptly Provide excellent customer service to all pool patrons Communicate effectively with patrons about pool rules and safety Support special events and pool programming as needed Must be 15 years or older Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification Strong swimming skills and physical stamina Excellent attention to detail and observation skills Strong communication abilities Professional demeanor and customer service orientation Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification including: First Aid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Bloodborne Pathogens training Ability to maintain surveillance and supervision for extended periods Physical ability to perform rescues and emergency procedures Capability to lift to 50 pounds Comfort working in outdoor conditions Competitive salary Professional development opportunities Free JCC membership during employment (includes fitness center access) Additional benefits available for year-round positions Flexible scheduling options QUALIFICATIONSRequired Skills and ExperiencePhysical Requirements and CertificationsBENEFITSCompetitive hourly rates start at $15/hour.Benefits: free membership at our facility and access to our fitness center, fitness classes, and more.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment includes both indoor and outdoor pool settings with exposure to various weather conditions and temperatures. The work environment includes exposure to pool chemicals and varying noise levels.
