Join our team at UPMC Memorial, where you'll play a vital role in the safe and efficient preparation and distribution of medications for patients of all ages. As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you'll work under the supervision of a pharmacist to prepare, dispense, charge, and deliver medications-making a meaningful impact every day. This full-time position features rotating daylight and evening shifts (hours may vary based on departmental needs). UPMC Memorial offers a competitive wage and a generous total rewards benefits package. _Applicants will be placed into the appropriate job title and salary based on their individual experience and education._ Take the next step in your pharmacy career and apply today Responsibilities: + Daily contact with Nursing Departmental Personnel, other departmental hospital personnel, physicians, and other UPMC Pinnacle employees. + Travels among UPMC Pinnacle facilities when mutually agreed upon to complete assigned Pharmacy activities. + Participates in Performance Improvement as it relates to the Department. + Promotes Mission, Vision and Values of UPMC Pinnacle. + Maintains Pharmacy in a clean, orderly and safe manner by restocking shelves, cleaning work stations, returning medications to stock, etc. + Completes all necessary documentation including medication credits, charge forms and various logs according to departmental procedures. + Assists in training employees and pharmacy students with regard to work procedures. + Fills and replaces medications to automated dispensing cabinets. + Demonstrates an understanding and ability to use current equipment, including pneumatic tube, fax machines, printers, computers, automated dispensing cabinets, telephones, etc. + Inspects medications in assigned areas (i.e. Pharmacy, patient care units, procedural areas, and off-site areas). Removes expired or recalled medications and completes documentation. + Fills and delivers interdepartmental orders. Completes all necessary documentation. + Proactively and continuously answers the telephone, waits on customers, and checks the pneumatic tube station. + Understands and complies with handling procedures for controlled substances. + Repackages medications as necessary and completes all required documentation. + Prepares and labels non-sterile compounds and other required products. Performs necessary calculations. Completes all necessary documentation. + Once trained, prepares specialty products such as chemotherapy, epidurals, etc. under the direction of a pharmacist. + Prepares and labels IV admixtures and other sterile products. Perform necessary calculations. Demonstrates an understanding of and utilizes proper aseptic technique. + Properly labels pre-made IV solutions and admixtures. + Delivers medications to patient care units and transfers/removes appropriate medications when necessary. + Initials after filling all orders and ensures a pharmacist review before dispensing. + Accurately prepares and labels medications for dispensing or distribution under the supervision of the pharmacist. + High school diploma or equivalent. + Employment experience required: + Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained and maintained including required continuing education credits.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: + Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
