No County New York Street Address Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park - Aquatics Complex 679 Riverside Drive City New York State NY Zip Code 10031 Duties Description Under the supervision of higher-level managers and the park administrative team, the Recreation Complex Manager 1 supervises programs and operations within Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park in the Aquatics Complex. The incumbent performs the following duties:u2022 Supervises the staff assigned to the Aquatics Complex; coordinates, implements, evaluates, and supervises aquatics programming, water safety programming, and pool operations at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park.u2022 Works closely with Aquatics Management to develop lifeguards and coordinate the State lifeguard exam.u2022 Coordinates and/or teaches learn-to-swim programs.u2022 Supervises and assigns seasonal lifeguards, Water Safety and Instruction Assistants, and lower-level Water Safety and Instruction Supervisors.u2022 Schedules water safety staff coverage and complex coverage, as needed, and assists with staff recruitment and testing programs.u2022 Presents and coordinates in-service training for all staff.u2022 Reviews and ensures staff familiarity with all agency and facility safety policies and procedures regarding pool operations.u2022 Performs facility inspections of Aquatics Complex including staff and public use areas for cleanliness and safety.u2022 Supervises physical training and conditioning activities of water safety staff.u2022 Performs equipment inventories and tracking to ensure daily operational needs are met.u2022 Provides recommendations for equipment needs.u2022 Protects swimming areas.u2022 Conducts pool water tests for turbidity, residual chlorine, and PH levels.u2022 Performs administrative duties as assigned for overall operational support, such as preparing and checking sign-in sheets and seasonal payroll.u2022 Prepares written reports, as needed.u2022 Develops a preventative maintenance program for the complex; documents and coordinates the repair of complex systems, structures, and fixed equipment within the complex.u2022 May also serve as shift supervisor in another complex, as needed, supervising programs and operations.u2022 Works closely with volunteers, the community, and vendors to ensure NYS Parksu2019 mission is always met.u2022 Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience, directing an athletic, sports or recreation facility or program.OR a bacheloru2019s degree in any field and two years of the general experience, including one year of supervisory experience.Substitution- A masteru2019s degree in park administration, recreation, physical education, fine arts, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience. Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:u2022 Must possess and maintain a valid driveru2019s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. If not licensed at the time of appointment, the appointee must obtain a driveru2019s license without restrictions or conditions within the term of probationu2022 This position is 40 hours per week.
