No County New York Street Address Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park 679 Riverside Drive City New York State NY Zip Code 10031 Duties Description Under the supervision of a higher-level manager and the Park Administration team, the Recreation Complex Manager 1 supervises programs and operations within Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park. The incumbentu2019s duties include, but are not limited to:u2022 Identifies community recreational needs and works with the community, school groups and local government officials to develop and implement programs, schedules, and special events.u2022 Assigns staff, prepares schedules, supervises and evaluates the effectiveness of contractors and subordinate delivery of programs and or purchasing and contracts. u2022 Inspects, evaluates and assures the readiness and availability of equipment and facilities to meet requirements for scheduled activities. Supervises recreation and administrative staff and participates in recruitment and training. u2022 Develops and implements cleaning and routine maintenance schedules for complex staff; in conjunction with the maintenance supervisors, plans major repair and preventative projects.u2022 Assists higher level managers to plan and budget for equipment, repairs and supplies needed to support existing and planned programming & events; orders needed supplies and materials.u2022 Prepares, updates, and executes a comprehensive plan of preventative maintenance, maintenance and repair of systems, structures, fixed equipment, and grounds at DF Riverbank State Park u2022 Requests needed repairs and ongoing maintenance and coordinates them to minimize adverse impact on customer services.u2022 Makes recommendations to higher level management for policies, procedures, training and facility improvements to enhance the customer experience and promote customer satisfaction.u2022 Assures that all Agency, Regional and Park standards for service delivery, customer service and employee conduct and performance are consistently met.u2022 Completes necessary purchasing requests and prepares and/or compiles any required supporting documentation. u2022 Works closely with volunteers, the community, and vendors to assure NYS Parksu2019 mission is always met. u2022 Covers scheduled Officer of the day shifts and inspects all complex staff reports, daily program schedule, cleaning, maintenance tasks performed by all complexes on scheduled OD shift. u2022 Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. u2022 May serve as shift supervisor at complex or another complex as needed supervising programs and operations. Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience, directing an athletic, sports or recreation facility or program.OR a bacheloru2019s degree in any field and two years of the general experience, including one year of supervisory experience.Substitution- A masteru2019s degree in park administration, recreation, physical education, fine arts, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience. Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:u2022 Must possess and maintain a valid driveru2019s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. If not licensed at the time of appointment, the appointee must obtain a driveru2019s license without restrictions or conditions within the term of probation.u2022 This position is 40 hours per week. Weekend, holiday, and evening work is required as operational needs.u2022 Candidates should be well organized, possess excellent communication skills, and have computer skills requisite to fulfill the needs of the position such as proficiency in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook. u2022 Candidates must possess effective communication skills and have the ability to understand written and/or verbal material and instructions. u2022 Candidate is expected to periodically support the New York City Regionu2019s Park and operational needs, including special assignments at other parks and emergency management tasks as needed. u2022 Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
