In this position... As a Field Service Engineer, youu2019ll be the go-to technical expert and trusted advisor for Ford and Lincoln dealerships in your assigned Tech Zone. This is a highly visible, hands-on role where youu2019ll diagnose the toughest vehicle concerns, improve dealership service processes, and help ensure customers have an excellent ownership experience. What you'll do... Youu2019ll spend about 4 days per week in Ford and Lincoln dealerships, focusing on three primary areas: Routine Dealership Visits & Service Performance u2022 Visit assigned dealerships on a regular (approximately 30-day) cadence. u2022 Meet with the General Manager and Dealer Principal to review: u2022 Overall health of the service department u2022 Repeat repair trends u2022 Fixed Right the First Time and Repeat Repair performance u2022 Warranty compliance u2022 Technical Training Competencies u2022 Provide insights and recommendations to improve repair quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Technical & Repair Assistance u2022 Provide in-dealership repair assistance for properly escalated technical hotline cases. u2022 Lead diagnosis and repair strategy on u201cdifficult to repairu201d vehicles through to resolution in a timely, expedited manner. u2022 Offer clear diagnostic guidance and coaching to dealership technicians to strengthen their long-term capabilities. Legal, Customer Relations & Dispute Resolution Support u2022 Support Ford legal counsel, executive liaison, and dispute resolution teams. u2022 Perform vehicle inspections and, when needed, complete final repair attempts. u2022 Serve as a technical expert in depositions, arbitrations, and trials, representing Fordu2019s repair standards and technical position. Consultative & Process Improvement Initiatives Beyond repair support, youu2019ll play a key consultative role with dealership leadership: u2022 Technician Training & Development u2022 Help dealerships create and maintain technician training plans that match skill levels and growth goals. u2022 Ensure technicians understand their development path and that management actively supports it. u2022 Make sure dealership leadership understands the training requirements needed to improve repair capability and technical competence. u2022 Root Cause & Process Analysis u2022 Analyze why Field Service Engineer involvement was needed on difficult-to-repair vehicles. u2022 Identify dealership process gaps that may have contributed to repair challenges. u2022 Present consultative, practical solutions to General Managers and Dealer Principals and track follow-up actions and results. u2022 Warranty & Service Process Optimization u2022 Partner with service departments to improve repair processes that support appropriate Ford Motor Company warranty expenditures. u2022 Help dealerships drive better outcomes in quality, cost, and customer satisfaction. u2022 Tools, Equipment & Technician Programs u2022 Ensure dealerships maintain a robust and complete inventory of Essential Service Tools and Equipment. u2022 Promote Fordu2019s technician entry, recognition, and retention programs. u2022 Coach dealership management on leveraging these programs to recruit, develop, and retain top technician talent. You'll have... + Bacheloru2019s degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. + 2+ years of automotive dealership diagnosis and repair experience. + Ability to attain/maintain Ford Sr. Master Certification within 24 months of hire. + Valid, unrestricted driveru2019s license. + Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles. + EPA 609 Certification, or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire. + Ability and willingness to travel with overnight stays on a weekly basis. + 2+ years of experience using Microsoft 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
