Overview Element has an opportunity for a Lead Metallurgical Engineer. This role will provide technical assistance within the metallurgical laboratory, with focus on quality, standardization, and continuous improvement. Primary responsibilities will include project management and to provide consultation services in the field of aerospace metallurgy. The ideal candidate will be a subject-matter expert in metallurgy, material testing, and aerospace alloys. Salary: $85k-120k/yr DOE Responsibilities u2022 Establish and maintain client contact for the purposes of market/account development, understanding customersu2019 needs, building personal relationships, ensuring satisfaction, and maintaining a professional consulting image. u2022 Review technical documents and to construct a suitable scope of work. Prepare written proposals, schedule tests, analyze test results and prepare high-quality reports. u2022 Supervise and direct activities of metallurgical laboratory personnel u2022 Perform root cause failure analysis investigations on metallic components from the aviation/ aerospace, space, transportation, consumer products / industrials and energy industries u2022 Metallurgical examinations / optical microscopy u2022 Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) / Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) u2022 Safely operate and maintain lab equipment in compliance with company requirements. Estimate the work effort required and to help in the commercial breakdown of the work Skills / Qualifications u2022Experience and recognized qualification in Metallurgy. Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of 7-12 years experience in metallurgical engineering with a focus on materials testing (physical metallurgy). u2022Experience in conducting and reporting of root cause failure analysis u2022Experience in working with SEM / EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy / Energy Dispersive analysis) u2022Experience working in an ISO 17025 (Nadcap preferred) laboratory environment u2022Strong communication / presentation skills u2022The ability to assess and respond to client requirements in an appropriate manner prioritizing customer service and professional partnerships u2022Ability to operate and function within a team, drawing on other expertise where required u2022Flexibility and adaptability to different workloads and roles within the company Company Overview Element is one of the fastest growing testing, inspection and certification businesses in the world.
