Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities VA Careers - Social Work: Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional This position is assigned to Mental Health Service (MHS) as a Social Worker who performs a full range of clinical services. The Inpatient Mental Health Social Worker provides comprehensive social work services through a broad range of interventions in a mental health setting (inpatient and out-patient). Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides a full range of psychosocial assessment services and psychiatric diagnoses of mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients in a variety of treatment settings, including tele-mental health. Assists with timely discharge planning to ensure Veterans have appropriate placement upon discharge. Provides education to patients, family members, and significant others. Provides timely follow-up for patients discharging from the inpatient unit. Provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy. Provides clinical supervision to interns, residents, fellows. Provides teaching on selected mental health topics to community organizations or training programs. Provides consultation to professional staff within VA Medical Center at Memphis and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. Functions independently at the VA Medical Center at Memphis, and assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation. Incumbent develops psychosocial treatment plans in coordination with interdisciplinary team members, including goals for psychosocial clinical treatment. Is responsible for clinical social work practice in the area or program to which assigned, including promotion of social work services as a key component of treatment. Provides clinical services to veterans and family members/significant others in support of the veteran's treatment. Gives advice, guidance, emotional support and other assistance. Organizes community services on behalf of beneficiaries, developing and coordinating procedures for use of these services by related staff. Develops working relationships with other organizations having responsibilities for the same patient population. Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure code. Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Chief of MHS, Section Chief in MHS, , Chief of Staff, and other meetings as assigned to participate. Coordinates with the Tele-health Coordinator and the Mental Health Service TMH Coordinator for the purpose of setting up TMH clinics, profiles, and operations for TMH services. Other duties as assigned. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
