Crew Leader Bulk Job ID #: 31633 Location: SC-CHARLESTON Functional Area: Management Position Type: Full Time Experience Required: 3 - 5 Years Relocation Provided: No Education Required: High School Diploma RC/Department: 6414 -SEREG SHIPYARD RIVER TERMINAL :BULKB Position Description Position Description Primary Purpose: Responsibilities include assisting Supervisor, and Manager's at the Terminal with all aspects of bulk handling operations; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems and responsible for safe and efficient movement of bulk cargoes operations. Essential duties and responsibilities: u2022 Supervise employees, assigning job tasks as necessary for the movement of commodities and maintenance of the handling equipment and facilities. u2022 Follows and enforces all rules and procedures established by Kinder Morgan for the safe and efficient operation of bulk handling equipment. u2022 Observes for compliance of safety rules and procedures. u2022 Assures that new employees are trained as necessary for tasks to be performed. u2022 Job Postings u2013 must create and follow through to completion on the hiring of employees. u2022 Job Progression u2013 KM has a job progression program for the advancement of the employees. It is your responsibility to manage this and to present it at company set times. u2022 Understands and can communicate understanding to others of bulk movement operations and bulk material handling operations. u2022 Train and develop subordinates in dry bulk unloading and loading operations. u2022 Work with the electrical and maintenance crew with electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic maintenance and repair of conveyor machinery. u2022 Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. u2022 Control spare parts inventory, prepare requisitions and purchase material in compliance with Kinder Morganu2019s purchase order and P-card procurement policy. u2022 Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. u2022 Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. u2022 Interprets specifications, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. u2022 Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. u2022 Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product handling. u2022 Has understanding and grasp of environmental impact of dry bulk handling operationsu2022 Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of truck loading, ship crews, track department, or work crew. u2022 Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. u2022 Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. u2022 Maintains payroll and overtime documentation and works with the Admin. Assistant regarding employee time records and weekly timesheet issues. Position Requirements Position Requirements Two to five yearsu2019 related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience / specific knowledge: u2022 Must be able to understand the needs of the business unit(s) for which development work is being performed. u2022 Must possess understanding of bulk handling operations/equipment. u2022 Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Office Suite general products. u2022 Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes. u2022 Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals, and results to business segment leaders. u2022 Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing small projects and see projects to completion while maintaining strict confidentiality (as necessary) u2022 Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal direct supervision. u2022 Must possess general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices and processes relate to the dry bulk business segment, associated business units. u2022 Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules. u2022 Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge/understanding of bulk materials handling. u2022 Must have the ability to communicate this knowledge/understanding. Certifications, licenses, registrations: u2022 Must possess and/or obtain a TWIC. u2022 Must pass and complete safety training /certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan. u2022 Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operatoru2019s license and have willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment must pass and complete any required Kinder Morgan specific safety training as may be required by customers and as required at all Kinder Morgan work locations. Competencies, skills, abilities: u2022 Proficient PC Skills; MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and other Office Suite general products. u2022 Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals and results to business segment leaders and to internal and external customer u2022 Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing large projects, and see projects to completion while maintaining strict confidentiality (as necessary) u2022 Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal direct supervision u2022 Must possess general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices and processes relate to the material handling business segment, associated business units, and internal and external customers u2022 Experience in developing, implementing and successfully managing operating budgets. u2022 Ability to identify and establish expectations in an employee/employer relationship (subordinate/manager) u2022 Solid leadership, communication, motivation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage projects(s) that will include working with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds and experience levels u2022 Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. u2022 The ability to accept after-hour callouts and weekend duty in rotation. Supervisory Responsibility: u2022 Supervise up to 30 +/- employees in the bulk terminal car unloading facility and ship unloading/loading terminal by providing the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of workers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Able to maintain a TWIC card.
