Description This role is for assembly test process engineer. You will work jointly with the headquarters launch team and their suppliers to assure the incoming manufacturing line is successfully delivered. Job duties include but are not limited to: u2022 Use test stand WMA software to monitor test stand FTT and stand to stand correlation. u2022 Reports, QRs (Quality Reject) and FQAs (Final Quality Audit) issues u2022 Track concerns and review initial test results/data from all relevant test equipment. u2022 Champion use of data to understand and resolve test failure root causes. u2022 Monitor failures and communicate multiple identical failures issues to appropriate management personnel and group leaders for resolution at source, (i.e. operator, vendor, process, etc.). u2022 Ensure that resolution of issues is addressed with the goal to drive In-Station Process Control (ISPC), Error Proofing, and improved Process Capability. u2022 Once suspect unit is returned, record any retest of defect testing datau2014along with analysisu2014then assist the Engineering and Quality team in determining root cause, and document improvement actions to test equipment. u2022 Conduct a monthly review of all critical test point variable trend charts. Verify test point trends and current limits. Investigate or notify correct personnel of any unusual trends. u2022 Ensure spare parts are available for test systems. u2022 Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity u2022 Complete all PPAP quality launch documentation u2022 Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products u2022 Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Powertrain guidelines u2022 Deliver capable processes and tools for all gear machining operations u2022 Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices u2022 Ensure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standards u2022 Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements to achieve Rate of Climb targets Skills & Qualifications Bacheloru2019s degree in Engineering preferred Proven experience of EOL testing principles including data knowledge of leak, NVH and balance testers WMA/Sciemetric test software experience Final axle assembly manufacturing experience Quality Assessment tools (QDAS, Minitab) Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills Lean Tools u2013 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling Heights, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $42.30 - $46.53/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
