Description: BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Payment Services Representative Office of the City Clerk Number of Positions: 2 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $50,424 This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the Cityu2019s collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) u2013 BARGAINING UNITS 1, 3, 4 & 5. Under general supervision, provides customer service at a City payment center and accepts and processes payments for City taxes, business and animal licenses, vehicle stickers, parking citations, warrants for collection, and other fees and services, and performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES u00b7 Provides information and responds to inquiries from customers regarding revenue ordinances, billings, fines, and penalties assessed for late payments, rights of appeal, and payment procedures. u00b7 Interviews customers to obtain information regarding billing or service complaints and questions. u00b7 Reviews computerized account and payment history records to research complaints, provide information regarding payment status, and makes adjustments to correct billing or payment discrepancies. u00b7 Reviews customer billing and payment owed documents, accepts payments, and issues receipts for various transactions, including City taxes, license and emergency medical fees, parking citations, water and sewer bills, and related fines. u00b7 Accesses appropriate screens on computerized cashier equipment to record and code payments by type of transaction, and updates credit customer account records. u00b7 Reconciles and balances cash, checks, and credit card payments with billing and payment transaction documents. u00b7 Prepares daily transaction reports of total monies received and ensures the proper coding of transactions and crediting of account. u00b7 Re-calculates dollar amounts owed to ensure accuracy of payments received. u00b7 Refers clients to appropriate City departments or departmental divisions to obtain information and resolve payment disputes. _Additional duties may be required for this position._ Location: 5430 W. Gale St., & 121 N LaSalle St., City Hall Room 107 Days: Monday through Friday Hours: Gale St. 9:15 am to 5:15 pm & City Hall 8:55 am to 4:55 pm YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED TO WORK AT EITHER LOCATION BASED ON OPERATIONAL NEEDS THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in customer service, cashiering, or clerical work, or an associate degree plus one (1) year of customer service, cashiering, or clerical work experience. Desired Skills: u2022 Previous work experience in cashiering u2022 Previous clerical work experience u2022 Previous professional cash handling experience u2022 Previous work experience using web-based sales and point-of-sale software u2022 Previous work experience accessing screens, viewing account records, and entering payments u2022 Previous work experience in customer service in a high-volume, public environment u2022 Fluency in a language other than English SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to successfully pass a skills assessment test and complete an interview. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after they have been analyzed and compiled. The candidates who receive a passing score on the skills assessment test will be invited to interview for the position. The interviewed bidders who possess the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected in seniority order and according to the CBA rules.
