Sr Staff / Senior Python Software Engineer

Responsibilitiesu00a0- Work independently and with our team to develop high-quality software features aligned to project goals- Coordinate and collaborate with advanced technical users on scientific and analysis objectives- Contribute to end-to-end containerization and distributed microservice development, deployment, and test frameworks- Enable and maintain real-time data processing streaming platforms/workflows as well as messaging libraries and ensure their reliability and scalability- Mentor entry-level and mid-level engineers, promoting strong engineering habits and technical growth- Identify technical risks and provides risk reduction strategies to meet program objectives- Guide Agile development processes, including code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning- Champion comprehensive testing practices including unit, integration, and system testing- Ensure code quality, clarity, and maintainability aligned with modern Python standards- Support documentation, knowledge sharing, and clear communication across the organization- Other duties as assignedu00a0 Requirements- A Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer scienceu00a0- 6+ years professional software engineering experienceu00a0- Hands-on experience with microservice architectures and distributed system design- Strong proficiency in Python and Pytestu00a0- Professional experience using the Linux operating system and code management, such as git- Demonstrated understanding of core software engineering principles, design patterns, and modularity- Commitment to high-quality code, testing, and continuous improvement- Ability to work in-person in Boulder, CO office location- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearanceu00a0- Demonstrated ability for cross-discipline collaboration- Detail oriented- Excellent verbal and written communication skillsu00a0Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred:- An advanced degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer scienceu00a0- Experience or background with remotely sensed data- Familiarity with messaging technologies such as protobuf, ZMQ, Kafka, gRPC, REST APIsu00a0- Professional experience with DevOps processes and tools such as Docker, Jenkins, gitlab CI/CDu00a0- Professional experience with Agile software development processes and tools, such as Jira- An active DoD security clearanceResumes, Cover Letters, and Applications which are generated by AI will not be considered for employment.Colorado Residents: In any materials you submit, you may redact or remove age-identifying information such as age, date of birth, or dates of school attendance or graduation.
