Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Community & Home Support? Location: Levittown, PA? The service provides approximately 5 hours of support per week, delivered once weekly, with flexibility on which day it occurs? Pay Rate: $18-$20/hr (based on experience) About the Role We’re seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one home and community support for an independent adult male diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The individual lives on his own and thrives with consistent guidance and structure to maintain independence, manage daily routines, and engage safely in the community. This position focuses on promoting independence while offering support with daily living, communication, emotional regulation, and safe participation in home and community activities. Related Support Goals: Cleaning Living Room (ADL): Support in organizing and maintaining a clean and safe living space. Coping Skills for Anxiety (Behavior): Reinforce techniques like deep breathing, positive self-talk, and short breaks when overwhelmed. General Coping Skills (Behavior): Encourage self-regulation, redirection, and positive behavior in social and stressful settings. Grocery Shopping (ADL): Support in planning, budgeting, and safely purchasing groceries. Medication Management (ADL): Provide reminders and structure for self-administered medications. Self-Help (ADL): Reinforce daily hygiene, grooming, and dressing routines. Transportation (ADL): Support in safely navigating public transportation and community travel. Washing Dishes (ADL): Encourage completion of dishwashing and kitchen cleaning tasks using step-by-step task analysis. Key Responsibilities Support the individual in daily routines, home organization, and self-care. Promote coping strategies and redirect during moments of stress or anxiety. Assist with community-based activities such as grocery shopping, errands, or recreational outings. Reinforce time management and daily structure using calendars or schedules. Provide gentle reminders for hygiene and household chores. Encourage independence and build confidence in completing personal and household tasks. Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding progress and daily activities. Ideal Candidate Experience supporting individuals with Autism or developmental disabilities. Strong interpersonal skills with patience and understanding. Ability to remain calm and supportive during behavioral challenges. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred). Must be detail-oriented, reliable, and compassionate. Work Environment The individual enjoys cooking, art, traveling, and engaging in social and recreational activities. He values independence and routine. Staff should maintain a calm, structured, and supportive approach to promote safety and confidence in all settings.
