Assurance Associate Fall

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Assurance Associate will beresponsible for preparing financial statements with disclosures,applying basic areas of GAAP as necessary and documenting, validating,testing, and assessing various control systems. This position may alsobe involved in reviews and agreed-upon procedure engagements. TheAssurance Associate will be expected to travel, as needed, to meet firmand client needs. Job Duties Control Environment: Applies knowledge andunderstanding of the collective effect of various factors onestablishing or enhancing effectiveness, or mitigating the risks, ofspecific policies and procedures by: Identifying and considering allapplicable policies, laws, rules, and regulations of the firm,regulators, or other authoritative bodies as part of engagement team;Making constructive suggestions to improve client internal controls andaccounting procedures; Documenting and validating the operatingeffectiveness of the clients' internal control system. GAAP: Appliesknowledge and understanding of governing principles; applying theseprinciples to client transactions; and documenting and communicating anunderstanding and application of these principles by: Providing supportof conclusions with authoritative literature; Drafting basic sets offinancial statements with disclosures; Researching intermediate areas ofaccounting and forming an initial opinion on the correct treatmentindependently GAAS: Applies knowledge and understanding of professionalstandards; application of the principles contained in professionalstandards; and the ability to document and communicate an understandingand application of professional standards on an engagement by:Developing and applying an intermediate knowledge of auditing theory, asense of audit skepticism, and the use of BDO audit manuals Applyingauditing theory to various client situations Documenting in line withBDO policy, identifying deviations and notifying more senior teammembers in order to obtain appropriate approvals Applying knowledge toidentify instances where testing may be reduced or expanded andnotifying more senior team members of the occurrence Contributingideas/opinions to the engagement teams Methodology: Applies knowledgeand application of BDO standards to guide effective and efficientdelivery of quality services and products by: Completing all appropriatedocumentation of BDO work papers Ensuring assigned work is performed inaccordance with BDO methodology and requirements Research: Appliesmethodology used to seek or maintain information from authoritativesources and to draw conclusions regarding a target issue based on theinformation by: Researching basic and...
