Job Summary: Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job-training, meetings, conferences, and workshops. Typically will have knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design, the measurement of the effectiveness of training, and demonstrated skills in teaching and instruction for individuals and groups. Evaluate instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement. Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs of classes, and teaching or instructing others. Usually supervises the activities of professional and clinical training staff. Who are we? Newport Hospital and Health Services is located in Newport, WA on the Washington-Idaho border. We are an independent rural healthcare provider. Newport Hospital and Health Services consists of: 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV 15 providers Rural Health Clinic 72 bed, high level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility 42 apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility Education Background and Experience Minimum Education: BA or BS Degree in Education or a minimum of 8 years of experience. Required Licensure / Certifications: Active Registered Nurse license with the ability to work in Washington State Required Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in Clinical Education experienced in a variety of disciplineswith a minimum of one (1) year experience managing staff. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Master's degree ATD or PHR Certification. Previous Hospital experience in this field. Professional Requirements Maintain regulatory requirements. Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines. Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District. Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner. Essential Job Functions Responsible for the direction of the Education Department staff. Supports and empowers staff to embrace the mission and value statement of the organization. Demonstrates ability to direct clinical educational programs covering the life span including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric population. Develops and directs orientation programs, in-services and continuing education for all organization staff. Ensures staff receives timely, complete and documented orientation and training. Interacts professionally with staff, managers, and Directors to determine specific educational needs and to coordinate educational programs to meet those needs. Maintains a good working relationship with all departments of the organization. Coordinates the required in-services annually, , safety, fire safety, emergency management and infection prevention and control, basic cardiac life support. Supports and carries out the organization’s policies and procedures. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, and administration. Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, termination and departmental staffing. Assigns in-service topics to clinical educators to develop and teach. Assists with the coordination of performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Responsible for developing a budget for the Education Department; ability to write grant proposals if necessary.
