Steampunk?wants you to be a Senior?Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) on our team?to support a government customer on site in Washington D.C.?The primary responsibilities for the position are to support all activities that ensure the level of security documented with the security authorization is maintained at an acceptable level of risk. The nature of the work requires that the candidate demonstrate initiative, organization, responsibility, customer service skills, and the ability to be flexible and adaptive to a fast-paced, fluid business environment. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively and decisively with all levels of the organization and be able to solve practical problems as well as exercise sound judgement with regards to sensitive and confidential information. Proactively create, monitor and update the status of POA&Ms to ensure weaknesses are resolved in accordance to their scheduled completion dates. ContributionsCreate Waivers or Risk Acceptance Memos to assist in the effective management of?system risksConduct an annual assessment in accordance with guidance in the DHS Information Security Performance PlanReview and update security authorization documents as needed, but at least annuallyCoordinate with?the customer's?Privacy, Records, and Information Governance Divisions related to compliance documentation and other requirementsConduct Contingency Plan tests at least?annually and update the planPerform system self-assessments as part of?the customer's?Ongoing Authorization programMonitor and respond to Information Security Vulnerability Management (ISVM)/Patch ManagementProvide audit support for assigned systems (Financial, A-123, FISMA, internal, DHS, etc.), throughout the audit (Pre, During, and Post Audit)Maintain knowledge of inventory in accreditation boundaryProactively ensure security requirements are included in development cycle (Waterfall, Agile,?DevSecOps)Use DHS?and mandated enterprise IA Compliance Tools.Devise a plan to certify and accredit their assigned information systemsEnsure configuration management processes are followed to ensure that any changes do not introduce new security risksRespond to emerging requirements or policies as set by legislation, regulation or policyParticipate in DevSecOps (security integrated into Agile processes) requirements for assigned systemsSupport annual independent assessments in accordance with guidance in the DHS Information Security Performance PlanRequiredMasters degree and 4 years of cyber & FISMA experience; ORBachelors degree and 5 years of cyber & FISMA experience; ORNo degree and 9 years of experience, 7 of which must be cyber & FISMAPossesses one of the following professional security certifications:CISSPCASPCISMCEHCISASSCPGISPGSLCAbility to hold and maintain DHS Public TrustSpecialized knowledge of financial audit standards, classified system IA requirements and Privacy Act requirementsSpecialized knowledge and experience with the implementation of the NIST Special Publication (SP) 800 family of publications (800-53 rev 4/5), particularly those associated with the Risk Management Framework (RMF)Ability to explain the RMF to non-technical individualsSpecialized knowledge and experience with evaluating system, network, or infrastructure security controls against requirements such as FISMA, FIPS, FedRAMP, and NIST guidelinesSpecialized knowledge and experience with vulnerability scanning execution, assessment, and analysisSpecialized knowledge and experience with the operating system (Windows and/or Linux) and network (i.e., Local Area Networks [LAN] and Wide Area Networks [WAN])Specialized knowledge and experience with information security and assurance principles (e.g., Defense-in-depth) and associated supporting technologiesSpecialized knowledge and experience with application security, database security, and network securityAbility to interpret patterns of noncompliance to determine their impact on levels of risk and/or overall effectiveness of the cybersecurity program.?Ability to advise appropriate senior leadership of changes affecting the system’s cybersecurity posture.Ability to assess and weigh current and evolving security threats in an operational environmentAbility to interview system stakeholders to properly document security controlsAbility to perform independent and self-assessmentsAbility to independently perform ISSO duties for at least one systemUnderstands risksRecognize a possible security violation and take appropriate action to report the incident, as required.Preferred SkillsCurrent experience providing ISSO support to DHSExperience supporting systems hosted in Cloud environments.Experience supporting systems in Agile and DevSecOps environmentsIndependent workerAbility to mentor other team membersSteampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $140,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
