Job Description

Apogee is seeking a Software Engineer, Senior to be located in Omaha, NE, may allow for a hybrid schedule in support of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Weather Systems Branch (AFLCMC/ESAW) . This position will provide Software Engineering and Development support to the Numerical Weather Models (NWM) program directly working with 557 Weather Wing (557 WW) software development teams to design, develop, and maintain secure software solutions, integrate DevSecOps practices, and ensure security and compliance throughout the Software Development Life Cycle while collaborating with agile teams to deliver high-quality, secure software. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on critical national defense systems while working with cutting-edge DevSecOps technologies in a collaborative, mission-focused operational environment.DevSecOps & Software DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain secure software solutions within an agile development frameworkImplement DevSecOps practices including automated security testing, code scanning, and vulnerability assessment throughout the CI/CD pipelineCollaborate with cross-functional agile teams to translate high-level requirements into detailed technical designs and user storiesDevelop and maintain automated build, test, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning scriptsConduct peer code reviews and security assessments to ensure adherence to secure coding practicesSecurity & ComplianceIntegrate security controls and compliance requirements into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)Perform Software Quality Assurance (SQA) to ensure developed software meets defined security and quality specificationsAnalyze and remediate security vulnerabilities identified through automated scanning and manual testingMaintain documentation for security controls, compliance artifacts, and risk assessmentsTechnical EngineeringApply advanced software engineering principles to analyze requirements, design solutions, and evaluate operational feasibilityDevelop comprehensive technical documentation including architecture diagrams, flowcharts, and system specificationsConduct systems analysis and recommend process improvements for enhanced security and operational efficiencyEvaluate, test, and recommend software tools and technologies that support secure development practicesAgile Team CollaborationActively participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and sprint reviewsCollaborate with government lead engineers, users, and stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver value iterativelyContribute to continuous improvement of team processes and DevSecOps practicesMinimum Experience:Citizenship: Must be a US citizenClearance: Must possess and maintain a TS w/SCI eligibilityCertifications: Current CSSLP or equivalent certification required. Security+ or equivalent certification with 6 months to obtain CSSLP acceptableEducation combined with years of Experience:Advanced Degree (MA/MS) with 10+ years of relevant experience (12+years preferred), including minimum of 5 years supporting the DoDOR, BA/BS with 12+ years of relevant experience (15+years preferred), including minimum of 5 years supporting the DoDOR, 18+ years of relevant experience (20+years preferred) with minimum of 8 years supporting the DoD (in lieu of a degree)Current CSSLP or equivalent certification required. Security+ or equivalent certification with 6 months to obtain CSSLP acceptable Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience across the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)Strong software design and coding expertise with secure development practices. Expertise with Python required.Comprehensive understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)Proficiency in DevSecOps tools and practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and security integration. Experience with Gitlab, preferredExperience with infrastructure as code, containerization, and cloud security practices Domain Expertise Proven experience supporting Department of Defense software development projects Understanding of government compliance requirements and security frameworks Experience working in classified environments and handling sensitive information**This position requires an on-call schedule once every 6 weeks to cover 24/7 serviceAdditional InformationLocation:Offutt AFB, NEOn-site/Hybrid/Remote: HybridTravel:10%
