Every role has an impact on our patientsu2019 lives and you have the opportunity to make a difference. We are looking for a dedicated Histology Technologist like you to be a part of our team. Job Summary and Qualifications You Will: + Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, and case organization in accordance with department procedures. + Assure positive sample, block and slide identification + Prepare and maintain reagents for routine stains and histology procedures. + Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule. + Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed. + Utilize independent judgement and problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance. + Troubleshoots and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution. + Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed. You Should Have: + High School Diploma AND minimum two years of histology experience + OR High School Diploma AND completion of an accredited program in Histotechnology + OR Associateu2019s degree in Chemistry, Biology AND one year of histology experience + OR Bacheloru2019s degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry + National Certification as a MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) required + Thorough knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes + Ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples + Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist + Demonstrates good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens + General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements + Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills.
