Clearance Required:Ability to Obtain a SecretEducation Required:HS/GEDUS Citizenship:RequiredSummaryThe MIL Corporation is seeking a Shipboard Safety Inspector (Occupational Safety, Senior Analyst) to support a US Navy client in Seattle, WA. The Safety Inspector will monitor Alteration Installation Team (AIT) safety compliance and support the government OSIC, as needed.This position currently requires an on-site schedule, with 5 days on-site. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.ResponsibilitiesConduct daily shipboard safety inspections and provide on-the-spot recommendations to correct unsatisfactory and unsafe conditionsEnsure the AIT is following its Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, quality inspection and test plan, safety and environmental compliance requirements, and technical instructionsEnsure the AIT complies with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items (SIs)Observe trades at work, offering guidance and real-time solutions to promote compliance and enhance worker protectionSupport the Corrective Action Request (CAR) processEnsure proper housekeeping and Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) requirements are maintainedProvide enhanced oversight of all safety processes / procedures to ensure full regulatory compliance, including OSHA and local shipyard standardsProduce daily deliverable of written safety surveillance at the end of the shift for each job site visited that dayPractice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and proceduresEvaluate field safety conditions through audit/monitoring and advise management on findings: tracks corrections of all deficienciesConduct random inspection & audits of work sites to ensure safety and quality compliance is in placeSome shipboard tasking may require ascending and descending vertical ladders and/or stairs to and from the highest points of the ship both pier side and underway.TravelNo travel expectedRequired Qualifications5 Years of US Navy shipboard experienceAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsMust be able to lift items up to National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) limitsMust be able to stand, kneel and/or crouch for extended periods of timeMust be able to climb ladders and scaffoldingMust be able to work in high places, as well as small, cramped, or confined spacesDesired QualificationsFamiliar with maritime safety regulations including OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, EPA, and local/state rules.OSHA 521 (OSHA Guide to Industrial Hygiene)OSHA 3095 (Electrical Standards)OSHA 3115 (Fall Protection)OSHA 7615 or 5410 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Maritime Industry)Shipyard Competent Person CertificationKnowledgeable of NAVSEA TS9090-310Shipboard AIT experienceInspection experienceFamiliarity of NAVSEA Standard Items and Joint Fleece Maintenance ManualEducationHS Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree or higher preferredClearanceAll applicants for this position must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; please note that the clearance process considers financial background pensationThe MIL Corporation values your contributions and offers a range of benefits to support your overall well-being.
