Bioinformatics Research SpecialistUPCI Cancer Bioinformatics Services - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25006844)u00a0UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking a Bioinformatics Research Specialist as part of the Bioinformatics Shared Resource at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.The Bioinformatics Research Specialist will work as a data scientist/health informaticist/bioinformatician who will lead analyses of multi-dimensional clinical or genomic datasets with a strong focus on cancer research. The incumbent will work with the Bioinformatics leadership of the Cancer Center and in close collaboration with faculties at the Hillman Cancer Center to oversee their high throughput omics project design, data analysis, and data presentation.The incumbent will also be responsible for collaborative computational and informatics research projects involving methods development, novel algorithm development and/or in-depth data analysis that facilitates and integrates implementation, visualization, and database management of multi-dimensional clinical and biological datasets generated at the Cancer Center or from public cancer databases.u00a0Job SummaryOversees analytical teams in the extraction, aggregation, and quality assurance of data from multiple clinical data depositories in support of clinical research and departmental projects. Collaborates across business units, coordinates all aspects of research data collection and project oversight, and manages design and implementation of project analysis plan. Prepares documents for peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and sections of grant applications.Essential FunctionsAbility to operate PC and telephone system and to communicate with others both orally and in writing. Proficient in data analysis; ability to collaborate with computer scientists, programmers, physicians, and laboratory scientists in cancer research. Must have excellent writing and presentation skills.Physical EffortLittle physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. Will be required to move from workstation to other locations within the department, university, and UPMC.
