Orchard Worker

This job was posted by : For moreinformation, please see: worker will perform a variety of agricultural tasks associated withcitrus and orchard crop production during anaccelerated harvest season. Due to unusually warm early-season weatherand faster-than-normal fruit maturation,citrus harvesting and orchard maintenance duties must be performed on anurgent basis to prevent fruit drop and croploss. Duties include hand-picking citrus fruit, placing fruit intopicking bags or bins, transporting harvested fruit todesignated collection points, and ensuring fruit is not damaged duringhandling.Worker will assist with emergency harvest-related orchard tasksincluding removing fallen fruit, clearing debris, andmaintaining clean orchard rows to prevent pest pressure resulting fromearly fruit drop. Duties also include pruning,thinning, irrigation support, fertilizing, weeding, and monitoring treesfor signs of heat stress, disease, or pests thathave become more active due to the unseasonably warm conditions. Workermay assist with checking irrigation lines,adjusting valves and timers as directed, clearing blockages, andensuring water distribution is maintained during thisaccelerated harvest period.Work requires the use of basic agricultural tools such as pickingshears, hand pruners, ladders, wheelbarrows, andirrigation equipment. The worker may be required to lift, carry, andmove materials up to 50 lbs. All duties will beperformed outdoors in varying weather conditions. Employer will provideall tools, equipment, and safety training at nocost to the worker. All work to be performed is strictly agricultural innature and directly related to the urgent citrusharvest and orchard maintenance needs during this accelerated season.
