Facilities Electrical Engineer

Electrical Engineer u2013 Vancouver, WA Actalent is currently seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer for a contract position in Vancouver, WA. This role will support both the Facilities Engineering (TENF) group and the Telecommunications (TENP) group within the Transmission Services business line. The engineer will conduct system analysis, design, review, and check electrical designs done by internal engineers or external Architecture & Engineering (AE) design firms for electrical systems at substations and telecommunications sites. The position will coordinate and facilitate all building electrical systems, including lighting, circuits, panels, wiring, HVAC, fire alarm systems, security systems, communication systems, emergency power systems, engine generators, and electrical gates. Responsibilities + Serve as point of contact and subject matter resource, providing electrical engineering expertise and support for buildings and building systems. + Work includes site assessments, scoping (planning), design, and design submittal review. Assist Contracting Officeru2019s Representative (COR) with Requests for Information (RFIs), construction field inspection (commissioning, startup, redlines), and project closeout. + Provide electrical engineering and design support for building electrical system(s), including industrial-type electrical power distribution systems ranging from low voltage 50V u2013 240V. + Review and check electrical design drawings and specifications developed by outside AE design contractors for new and existing building facilitiesu2019 electrical systems. + Provide expertise to design and review AE submittals for building alarm systems, engine generators, HVAC systems, and gas detectors. + Conduct station service load flow, arc flash studies, and short circuit analyses for 50V u2013 480V distribution systems. + Identify and analyze problems associated with low voltage electrical systems. + Apply industry codes for electrical systems and equipment used in building facilities. + Provide technical input and recommendations for electrical engineering requirements and design parameters for building facility equipment (HVAC, Lighting, EGs, fans, sensors, monitoring, outlets, circuits, etc.). Verify compliance with functional, operational, maintenance, reliability, and safety requirements, including National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electric Safety Code (NESC). + Mark documents and maintain filing systems, files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Ensure proper handling of official records per Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards. Essential Skills + Bacheloru2019s degree in engineering (from an ABET-accredited school) required. + 5 years of work-related experience and knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and practices. + 5 years of experience with design and engineering of low and medium voltage systems in compliance with various codes. + 5 years of experience with power systems, power distribution, and utilization, including transformers, panelboards, standby engine-generators, motors, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, cabling, and grounding. + Knowledge of professional engineering theory and techniques sufficient to provide technical leadership in the design of electrical systems. + Understanding of Electrical Safety Standards, safety regulations, and code requirements (NESC). + Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other industry standards such as NFPA, IEEE, ANSI. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $47.00 - $52.00/hr.
