Posting Details Posting Number 0801764 Classification Title Communications Manager Working Title Department Institutional Advancement Department Contact Email Job Summary/Basic Function The Communications Manager plays a key role in shaping and delivering Central State University’s voice and brand across all communication channels. This position is responsible for developing, writing, editing, and managing content for internal and external audiences across print, digital, and social media platforms. The role builds strategic partnerships with campus stakeholders to ensure consistent, engaging, and impactful messaging that supports the University’s enrollment, fundraising, alumni engagement, and public relations goals. Essential Job Functions Write and edit digital, print, and social media communications for internal and external audiences. Develop and direct creative execution for consistent, targeted, and impactful messaging across channels for the University. Build and maintain solid partnerships with internal university stakeholders to better develop, direct, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet the university’s relationship building goals. Manage University-wide newsletters and communications, including writing content and building emails in various marketing tools in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications teams. Oversee content strategy for the University’s official social media accounts, engaging with audiences in a brand-appropriate manner. Interview internal and external stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, donors, etc.) to create strategic, story-driven communications. Design and implement communications campaigns targeting specific audiences, using analytics to assess performance and inform future strategies. Manage postings to the University’s website News and Stories section, writing articles, gathering creative assets, and optimizing content for search engines. Work closely with the entire Institutional Advancement team to ensure that all content - including social media - is consistent with the University’s brand, voice, and strategic priorities. Analyze engagement metrics from social media, website, and email campaigns to monitor and improve communications impact. Craft marketing and communications collateral consistent with CSU’s brand and strategic objectives. Support the Director of Marketing and Communications with press releases, media advisories, and press kits. Arrange interviews, manage a fast-paced content calendar, and create promotional and campaign-related materials. Generate quarterly and annual reports summarizing communications and social media performance. Provide content support for the University’s website and social media channels. Skills Required Excellent writing, editing, storytelling, and social media content creation skills. Ability to capture and convey the voice of leadership and key stakeholders across multiple platforms. Proven experience managing omnichannel publications and official organizational social media accounts. Proficiency with digital platforms, social media management tools, content scheduling platforms, websites, and design software. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to analyze performance data and adjust strategies accordingly. Skilled at prioritizing multiple projects and adapting to changing needs. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field. At least 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, and social media management. Familiarity with Constant Contact or similar email enterprise system. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education communications and fundraising environments. Familiarity with social media analytics, SEO best practices, and CRM/marketing automation tools.
