Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Oak Brook, Illinois. In this role, you will handle essential financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and light support for month-end close tasks. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational abilities and attention to detail while thriving in a fast-paced work environment. Responsibilities: u2022 Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments within the accounts payable cycle. u2022 Reconcile vendor statements, address discrepancies, and assist with setting up new vendor accounts. u2022 Generate and distribute invoices for customers while ensuring alignment with service agreements. u2022 Record incoming payments, apply cash receipts, and monitor accounts receivable aging reports. u2022 Follow up with customers on overdue accounts and assist with account setup or credit applications. u2022 Prepare and post journal entries as part of month-end close procedures. u2022 Reconcile general ledger accounts related to accounts payable and accounts receivable. u2022 Maintain accurate digital and physical financial records in line with company policies. u2022 Support audits by providing required documentation and responding to inquiries. u2022 Participate in special projects such as improving accounting processes or supporting system upgrades. Requirements u2022 Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable roles. u2022 Knowledge of month-end close procedures and related accounting tasks. u2022 Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms. u2022 Strong Excel skills and attention to detail for accurate data entry. u2022 Excellent communication and customer service abilities. u2022 Familiarity with general ledger reconciliations and journal entries. u2022 Experience in the construction or service industry is preferred. u2022 Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities.
