Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Instructional - Open Rank Engineering Medicine Location Houston, TX Open Date 12/15/2025 Position ID 174510 Description The School of Engineering Medicine (EnMed) at Texas A&M University invites applications for an academic professional track (non-tenure) position at the full-time, instructional assistant professor, instructional associate professor, or instructional professor level depending on the qualifications, with an 11-month academic appointment. The position will support pre-clinical curriculum needs in areas such as Gross Anatomy, Histology, Neuroanatomy, Genetics, and/or Microbiology. The anticipated start date is Summer 2026. Engineering Medicine (EnMed) is the School of Engineering Medicineu2019s innovative medical education program, developed in a partnership with the, Texas A&M Vashist College of Medicine, Texas A&M College of Engineering and Houston Methodist Hospital, to educate u201cphysicianeers,u201d a new kind of physician who will create transformational technology to solve health careu2019s greatest challenges. The EnMed medical education program offers a blended medicine and engineering curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. EnMedu2019s program allows graduates to receive both the Doctor of Medicine and Master of Engineering degrees in four years. EnMed is located in Houstonu2019s Texas Medical Center (TMC). EnMed graduated their first class in 2023. In addition, EnMed is seeking their own LCME accreditation, and faculty joining at this point of the journey will be able to help shape the new school while contributing to an ongoing successful program. EnMedu2019s pre-clerkship curriculum uses evidence-based, student-centered strategies such as active learning, flipped classrooms, and case- or team-based learning. Faculty will help develop and deliver this curriculum, teach collaboratively within courses, and work with colleagues across disciplines to integrate medical training with innovative approaches. Duties/Responsibilities: + Teach within the foundational courses in the pre-clinical curriculum, with focus on areas of gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, genetics, and/or microbiology + Lead pre-clerkship course(s) based on areas of expertise + Participate in developing and delivering the pre-clerkship curriculum and collaborating with other members of the EnMed faculty and affiliates to provide a strong foundational science knowledge base + Contribute to curricular development of innovative instructional methods, participation in committees and admissions, and fostering collaboration among the three EnMed partners Qualifications Required: + Medical Degree (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in medicine or a related field + Demonstrated expertise in more than one of the following foundational areas: gross anatomy, histology, embryology, neuroanatomy, medical genetics and medical microbiology + Demonstration of commitment to education that is synergistically aligned with the goals of EnMed Preferred: + Experience teaching in pre-clerkship medical education + Demonstrate a commitment to educational research or other scholarly endeavors + Engineering background or experience teaching students with engineering or quantitative science backgrounds is a plus, but not required to excel in the position Application Instructions Interested applicants must apply through the Texas A&M University faculty job board hosted by Interfolio at /178507 and upload the following: 1) Cover Letter, 2) Curriculum Vitae, 3) Personal statement to include philosophy and plans for research, teaching and service, as applicable, and 4) List three contact references.
