JOB REQUIREMENTS: Observe operation of equipment to ensure continuity offlow, safety, and efficient operation, and to detect malfunctions.Examine materials, ingredients, or products, visually or with hands, toensure conformance to established standards. Move controls to start,stop, or adjust machinery and equipment that crushes, grinds, polishes,or blends materials. Clean, adjust, and maintain equipment, using handtools. Read work orders to determine production specifications andinformation. Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces inpreparation for paint application, using abrasives, solvents, brushes,blowtorches, washing tanks, or sandblasters. Sand and apply sealer toproperly dried finish. Set up portable equipment, such as ventilators,exhaust units, ladders, or scaffolding. Operate lifting or movingdevices to move equipment or materials to access areas to be painted.Turn valves to regulate the moisture contents of materials. Set millgauges to specified fineness of grind. Test samples of materials orproducts to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment.Notify supervisors of needed repairs. Clean work areas. Load materialsinto machinery and equipment, using hand tools.
