We want your knowledge and expertise Job Summary and Qualifications Position Summary: The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as u201cAssess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.u201d The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organizationu2019s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. Major Responsibilities: Quality u00b7 Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. u00b7 Assesses patient environment for any safety risks and/or non-compliance with regulatory standards. u00b7 Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. u00b7 Assesses patient condition for signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect. Reports any indications of abuse or neglect to medical provider(s), nurse leader, and/or appropriate agency. u00b7 Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. u00b7 Performs the administration of prescribed medications. Monitors patient for therapeutic response. Notifies provider and intervenes as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication. u00b7 Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. u00b7 Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. u00b7 Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management. u00b7 Manages a care team, providing oversight and delegation to members as appropriate. u00b7 Manages evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures and enhance the exceptional care provided to patients. u00b7 Manages the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery. u00b7 Manages the continuation of care by serving as the interface between healthcare providers and community support systems who coordinate ongoing care needs for specialized patient groups. Specialty-Specific Responsibilities u00b7 Demonstrates clinical knowledge and application of the nursing process to provide evidence-based patient care, consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. u00b7 Utilizes knowledge of growth and development, psychopathology, and psychosocial systems to plan and implement aga-appropriate and culturally-sensitive care interventions.. u00b7 Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Provides, structures, and maintains a safe, therapeutic, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented milieu in collaboration with patients, families, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team. u00b7 Incorporates knowledge of pharmacological, biological, and complementary interventions with applied clinical skills to restore the patientu2019s health and prevent further disability. u00b7 Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients, family members, and/or identified support system. Uses therapeutic relationship and counseling interventions to assist patients during individual recovery journeys by improving and regaining previous coping abilities and fostering mental health. u00b7 Provides health teaching in individual and group settings related to patient needs, recovery goals, and situation, including mental health problems, psychiatric and substance use disorders, treatment regimens and self management strategies, coping skills, relapse prevention, self-care activities, conflict and crisis management, problem solving skills, stress management, and relaxation techniques. u00b7 Demonstrates competence in crisis management, including verbal de-escalation skills and appropriate application of seclusion or restraint, in accordance with federal, state, local and facility regulations.
