We are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join our team focused onDelivering Solutions and Improving Lives.The Senior Designer is recognized as being capable of performing difficult and technically challenging work which may be assigned to them within their engineering specialty. May oversee portions of a project and may be assigned the project leader responsibility on projects. Senior Designer also actively participates in obtaining work for the firm.Reports to a Group Leader but takes direction from Engineers or Project Manager with minimal supervision. Perform complex design duties under the direction of the Engineer of record. May not change the scope of work or deviate from any part of the contractual document without Project Manager’s approval. Coordinate work of staff within the project.The Senior Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining the satisfaction of existing clientsUsing prescribed methods, performs specific and daily assignments of a Senior Designer. Applies standard practices and techniques in situations, adjusts and gathers data, and follows operations through a series of related steps or processes. Performs a variety of technical tasks, including:Proficient use of computer spreadsheets and design programs for engineering analysis and equipmentTrain staff in use of computer spreadsheets and designParticipate in preparing proposals and client presentations.Initiate additional service requests and turn over to Project Manager for submittal toCalculate costs and time schedules for proposedOrganize and maintain projectAssigned to a project team and makes major designCoordinate clearance requirements with other designDevelop design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce constructionResearch non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from codeDevelop details as required for a specificEdit master specification sections to be projectDevelop control sequences for temperature controlReview drawings for compliance with company and industry standards andPrepare engineering opinion of probable cost for mechanical or electrical systems and review construction manager/contractor costAttend construction progress meetings to solve non-routine technical issues and produce reports.Review addendums, proposal requests and changeReview submittal and RFI’s.Produce final punchMay serve as a field engineer duringMaintain liaison with the client after projectLead the development and assist with maintaining company design and production standards.In role of project leader, coordinate staff activities and maintain responsibility for project budget, staffing, schedule, andAssign duties and schedules to team members, responsible for all phases of aActively participate in technical presentations to both in-house staff and educational opportunities outside of the office.Participate in technical and professional societies.Other duties as necessaryRecommended: 9 or more years of demonstrated design (2 years if BSEE)Associate Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Technology from an accredited technical collegeOrRecommended: 15 or more years professional experience.Diploma from a Drafting/ CAD schoolExpertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided draftingWorking knowledge of mechanical and electrical system designUnderstanding and knowledge of applicable design codeMust be able to communicate with a variety of individuals; must be able to follow verbal and written instructions/directions and respond to inquiriesMust be able to travel to work- sites as needed or requiredMust be able to operate a computerPhysical Demands: This position requires sitting for extensive periods of time.
