Position Number: 001914, 003719, 004676 Department: Coll of Computing&Informatics (Col) Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time Months Per Year: 9 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrate significant accomplishments or outstanding potential in scholarship, teaching, and research, corresponding to the rank of appointment. Candidates for tenured positions must demonstrate a track record of industry/government/academic collaborations. Develop and sustain nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research programs as evidenced by high-quality publications. Successful mentoring of students, innovation and entrepreneurship activities. Contribute to teaching and curriculum development at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Participate in selected University initiatives. Minimum Experience / Education: UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Preferred Education Skills and Experience: Ph.D. degree in a computer science or computer engineering or another closely related field Have a background aligning with one of the listed research foci. Prefer the candidates with foundational, use-inspired, and/or transdisciplinary research interests in: 1. Modern and future Computing systems, including photonic and quantum computing, analog neuromorphic computing, combinatorial algorithms, and continuous optimization. 2. Modern software systems, including auto-coding and code analytics, dependability, security, open-source eco-systems, and software supply chain management. 3. Security, privacy, resiliency, and intelligence in future smart environments such as healthcare, manufacturing, and power systems. 4. Machine Learning/Computer Vision for Robotics, including symbiotic intelligence and foundational models for scene understanding and manipulation. 5. Machine learning and systems, including hardware acceleration, energy-efficient cloud designs, federated learning, and distributed computing.
