Apply for Job Job ID370288 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilySupplemental Employee Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryTemporary Job Code0001 Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job The Institute for Global Studies and associated research centers and academic programs occasionally hire part-time and/or short-term employees (Temporary/Casual, Job Code 0001) to carry out various projects and provide support in the following areas: administration, communications, community engagement, events, technology, and research, as assigned and in consultation with faculty directors and program coordinators. These are part-time temporary or casual positions. Temporary positions are limited to 67 days or fewer of work in a calendar year. Casual positions can work 14 or fewer hours each week; and are not limited to 67 days of work in a calendar year. These positions may support strategic planning & program management, communications initiatives, technical and non-technical projects, and grants-related projects, research, and reporting. These positions also may develop communication and marketing plans for internal and external audiences in consultation with center staff, and participate in the planning and delivery of assigned programs and programs related to the center's grant projects, academic programming, and outreach initiatives. These positions take work direction from the center director and center staff, and must be able to complete assignments independently. This posting does not constitute an announcement of open positions, but is used to establish a pool of applicants should openings occur during fall semester 2025, spring semester 2026, academic year 2025/26, and summer 2026. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt and will only be reviewed should openings occur. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experiences to equal four years; demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with an emphasis on precision and timeliness of execution. Academic and educational background in the humanistic social sciences, with an emphasis in a field closely related to a center or program associated with IGS. Relevant skills and experience that relate to the temporary position we need to fill. This could include any of the following areas of expertise: administration, communications, community engagement, event support and logistics, technology support and training, and research. Preferred Qualifications Prior successful work experience working in a research center or department in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota. Advanced degree and/or equivalent educational background in the humanistic social sciences. Experience coordinating large-scale projects and developing new programs. Experience writing grants, helping to develop grant budgets, and monitoring timelines. Restrictions Students enrolled at a University of Minnesota system campus who are eligible for student employment (e.g., undergraduate or graduate employment programs) are not eligible for employment in this job classification. Pay Frequency: Biweekly according to the University's biweekly payroll calendar for FY26.
