To support the hospital and program philosophy of care; to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: u00b7 Administers patient medications prescribed by physician. u00b7 Assists Dietary Staff in identifying patients on special diets and assuring patients' compliance with dietary orders. u00b7 Completes nursing assessments under supervision of RN. u00b7 Updates treatment care plans under supervision of RN. u00b7 Participate in treatment planning: (a) helps identify patients' problems, needs, and strengths; (b) suggesting modifications to treatment plan based on observations of patients' behavior; (c) providing input into discharge planning. u00b7 Participate in implementing patients' treatment plans by: (a) monitoring patients' progress; (b) communicating information regarding patients' behavior to other members of treatment team; (c) maintains communication with patient, family members, and referral sources in patients' interest; (d) facilitates or co-facilitates groups; (e) encouraging and facilitating patients' participation in therapeutic activities; (f) supervising patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment; (g) providing input during shift report. u00b7 Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentation. u00b7 Orient new patients to unit, program, and milieu. u00b7 Carry out general nursing care assistance as assigned and supervised by nurse in charge. u00b7 Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients. u00b7 Assists patients in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the patients' treatment plan and needs. u00b7 Carry out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department and organization operations. u00b7 Accurate and litigable documentation that meets current standards and policies. u00b7 Treats and cares for patients competently and as based on current developmental theories and psychiatric nursing knowledge and standards. u00b7 Understands a wide range of psychosocial, cognitive and/or developmental disorders and physical disabilities. u00b7 Ensures patient care and environment that optimizes patient safety. u00b7 Upholds the Organizationu2019s ethics and customer service standards. Requirements Education/Licensure: u00b7 Current LPN License in the State of Nevada required u00b7 All direct patient care staff will be trained in BLS (CPR), which must be renewed every 2 years. u00b7 All staff, both clinical and non-clinical, will be trained in CPI as part of their orientation. All direct patient care staff will be retrained every year Knowledge and Experience: u00b7 Demonstrates sound leadership skills u00b7 Ability to organize activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks for patients. u00b7 Ability to stabilize acute psychotic and non-violent crises by using accepted intervention techniques. u00b7 Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult/adolescent psychiatric population helpful u00b7 Familiarity of psycho pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with child, adolescent or adult psychiatric population preferred. Skills and Abilities: u00b7 Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times. u00b7 Ability to interact effectively with clinical team and other staff u00b7 Sensitivity and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds. u00b7 Working knowledge with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). u00b7 Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. u00b7 Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately; legible handwriting. u00b7 Strong clinical and interpersonal skills. u00b7 Ability to work with people with a variety of background and educational levels. u00b7 Ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. u00b7 Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively as well as possessing the skills to lead, influence, train and motivate others. u00b7 Facilitation of education oriented and didactic groups. u00b7 Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills. u00b7 Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding organization. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following: u00b7 Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for sustained period of time. u00b7 Walk, push, pull, lift, carry objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position or otherwise move objects. u00b7 Feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips. u00b7 Express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly. u00b7 Hearing within normal hearing ranges. u00b7 Lift up to 50 pounds, exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently. u00b7 Minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction. While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
