Job Title: CNC Specialist / CNC Programmer-MachinistLocation: Bloomfield, CTSalary: $ Depending on experienceHours: Full TimeDuration: Permanent opportunityPosition Summary and Special DutiesAs a CNC Specialist / CNC Programmer-Machinist, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating high-precision CNC equipment to produce complex, tight-tolerance components. This role requires advanced programming abilities, strong machining expertise, and the capability to inspect your own work down to ?0.0002". You will work with Cimatron software, Micron machines with Heidenhain controls, and both 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling centers in a moldmaking and electrode-machining environment.Your day-to-day duties will include, but may not be limited to:Program CNC toolpaths using best practices to achieve proper finish, accuracy, and tool lifeUse Cimatron (CimatronE13 preferred) for NC programmingProgram, set up, and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines (Mikron HSM500LP, Haas VF2 YT, etc.)Program and run Micron CNC machines with Heidenhain control panelsSet tooling, offsets, fixtures, work coordinates, and make program modifications as neededMachine both graphite electrodes and tool steel to ?0.0002"Mount electrodes on EROWA holders and load into the WorkPartner 1+ RobotRead and interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and 3D CAD modelsPlan machining strategies based on cutter types, tool holders (shrink fit, collet, etc.), material, tolerance stack-ups, and toolpath strategyPerform final inspections using a CMM, micrometers, indicators, depth gauges, calipers, etc. (Zeiss experience is a plus)Inspect all completed parts and electrodes to ensure accuracy and finishOrder material based on project requirements (considering grade, quantity, and timing)Troubleshoot machining issues involving feeds/speeds, chip load, stepovers, tool wear, and machine performanceMaintain a clean, safe, and organized machining environmentJob SpecificationsMinimum of 3 years of CNC machining and NC programming experienceStrong experience programming, setting up, and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machinesProficiency with Cimatron required or strong CAM background with ability to learnExperience with Micron / Heidenhain, Haas, Mikron HSM500LP strongly preferredAbility to hold extremely tight tolerances (?0.0002")Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, chip load, step-down/step-over, and toolpath strategiesAbility to inspect your own work using all major precision metrology toolsAbility to read complex drawings and 3D modelsFamiliarity with EROWA or similar tooling and robotic systemsExperience cutting graphite and tool steelExcellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsSelf-starter who can work independently with high accuracyOpportunityThis is a premier opportunity for a highly skilled CNC professional who enjoys advanced machining, electrode manufacturing, and high-precision moldmaking work.
