Job Description The Mammography Technologist performs diagnostic mammographic imaging procedures on patients in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and regulatory standards. This position focuses on high-quality patient care, technical accuracy, and adherence to all compliance and safety regulations. Quality control testing and daily calibrations are performed by daytime staff; therefore, evening technologists focus primarily on patient exams, workflow coordination, and image quality assurance. Qualifications + Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. + Minimum of one (1) year of experience in mammography preferred. + ARRT certification (R) with current Mammography (M) credential. + Current New York State Radiologic Technologist License. + Comprehensive understanding of mammographic positioning, anatomy, and pathology. + Proficiency with digital mammography and PACS/RIS systems. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during evening hours. + Demonstrated sensitivity to patient needs, comfort, and privacy. + Ability to stand or walk for extended periods. + Ability to lift or move patients and equipment as needed (up to 25 lbs.) + Manual dexterity to operate imaging systems and computers. + Perform patient examinations between 4 PMu20138 PM; no QC or physics testing duties required. + Verify that all equipment passed daytime QC prior to beginning clinical use. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during evening hours. Responsibilities + Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms according to ACR, MQSA, and NYSDOH standards. + Position and immobilize patients correctly to achieve optimal image quality with minimal radiation exposure. + Confirm patient identity, review history, and obtain relevant clinical information prior to examination. + Document all procedures accurately in RIS/PACS and ensure proper electronic image transfer. + Maintain cleanliness and readiness of mammography rooms and equipment throughout shift. + Assist with patient scheduling, verification of orders, and coordination with technologists in other modalities. + Notify radiologist of critical findings or incomplete images requiring repeat exams. + Observe all infection control, patient privacy (HIPAA), and radiation safety protocols. + Support breast imaging workflow, ensuring exams are complete and ready for interpretation. + Participate in annual competencies, continuing education, and required MQSA certifications.
