JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Salvation Army of La Crosse Emergency Shelterprovides a safe shelter for families and individuals experiencinghomelessness. We also provide assistance in the form of case managementto those within out shelter to assist them in finding employment,affordable sustainable housing, and more. In addition to being assigneda Case Manager shelter residents receive 3 meals a day (and snacks),access to showers and laundry facilities. Every year, hundreds of men,women, and children are provided emergency shelter and fed over 80,000meals. Community support makes all this possible. Donations of supplies,dollars, and volunteer staffing help ensure the emergency sheltercontinues serving those in the biggest need. If you want to help make adifference by serving your community and helping those in need, applynow The Third Shift Intake Worker I (Shelter Advocate I) providessupport to the Shelter Manager and Social Services Director by providingsupervision and intake of clients, maintaining security, and providingsupportive services in a Christian atmosphere. About the role: Conductsintake interviews of incoming residents into shelter Assigns a properroom and distributes needed bedding and personal items Providesnecessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules andpolicies are being followed Maintains an awareness of client needsAnswers telephone calls, taking messages when appropriate Cleans shelterareas as necessary Prepares snacks for shelter residents Oversees lunchand dinner preparations in dining room Reviews log book and updatesentries as needed Performs room inspections Distributes medications asneeded Supervises volunteers and community service workers, whenassigned.
