We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced systems engineer specializing in networking and infrastructure systems for the Hybrid Systems & Verification team This team plays a critical role within Hybrid Platforms accountable for technical scope/requirement definition, high level design/architecture, and subsequent test strategy/definition/execution guidance.Hybrid Platforms develops, manages, deploys, and drives innovation for compute, storage, and network to enable reliable, secure end-user communication. The Hybrid Platforms team provides the infrastructure on-premises, in public cloud, at the edge, and in non-production (lab) environments needed for teams across engineering to efficiently develop and deploy services that our customers and businesses rely on.The day-to-dayDesign network, cloud and server solutions for cross team systems within Hybrid PlatformRepresent Hybrid Platforms in early stages of initiatives requiring services provided by platformEnsure scalable and secure solutions are delivered efficiently among the technical execution teams within Hybrid PlatformsCollaborating with teams within and outside Hybrid Platforms on network and infrastructure systems needs Champion security-by-design principles for network and system level securityProvide forward looking designs and effective utilization of services provided by teams within platformDevelop efficient and effective test strategies with an emphasis on automation to ensure networks and infrastructure are validated with high confidenceCreating Proof of Concepts emphasizing multi-phased designs for incremental delivery or cutover minimizing customer impactWhat you'll need8+ years of experience in systems engineering, integration, and compute/storage/networking infrastructureStrong understanding of datacenter, service provider and cloud networkingStrong understanding of cloud and on-prem physical or virtual infrastructureExperience automating and managing complex infrastructure at scaleStrong oral and written communication skills for audiences ranging from individual to large groups and from individual contributors to executives across a distributed teamExperience in leading complex engineering projects, from conception to deployment, with a focus on quality and customer satisfactionBackground with L2/L3 networking protocols and security conceptsAbility to effectively collaborate with multi-functional teams and collaborators; Ability to apply a collaborative/consultative working and leadership styleDemonstrated analytical skills with the ability to judge situations accurately and quickly, grasp complexities, identify key issues, and apply sound judgmentCreativity in developing verification approaches that scale through automation and validate the system at scale without the costs of a full-scale production replicaCuriosity and awareness of what is in the market to apply strategies to inform make versus buy decisionsUS Citizenship or Permanent Resident StatusTravel is up to 10%What will help you on the jobPractical experience in design/integration/test of infrastructure of at least one of Viasat's current or future satellite network systemsBackground in building or designing virtualization and/or containerization systemsKnowledge of or experience with virtualized data plane functions
