Visit our website to learn more Who will you be working with? Responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on switcher and local locomotives. Must be able to perform duties while adhering to company safety standards and all applicable local, state and federal rules regarding locomotives maintenance and repair. How will you make a difference? Assists other associates and completes special assignments as needed. What do we want to know about you? Minimum education, job experience, certifications, skills, knowledge and abilities that incumbent must typically have to perform the essential functions of the job acceptably with or without a reasonable accommodation. u2022 High school degree or equivalent; training in maintenance and repair operations and safety certification may be required. u2022 Knowledge of basic mechanics. u2022 Knowledge of machine testing procedures. u2022 Understanding of equipment maintenance requirements. u2022 One year in diesel engine or electrical repairs. u2022 Attention to detail. u2022 Able to schedule work. u2022 Solid problem solving skills. u2022 Good oral communication abilities. u2022 Able to sue all related mechanical and testing equipment. What will your typical day look like? Assumes responsibility for the timely and effective performance of maintenance procedures. u2022 Fuel, sand, and daily inspections of locomotives. u2022 Performs preventive maintenance according to established schedules. Clean oils, fills tanks, and adjust equipment to ensure smooth operations. u2022 Complete basic repairs on equipment and machines. Trouble shoots and repairs diesel engines, electrical systems, air brake systems. u2022 Field service work. Travels to locations in and around Houston, TX using company vehicles to perform maintenance duties in the field. u2022 Conducts regular visual inspections of maintenance equipment including company vehicles. u2022 Completes all maintenance functions in accordance with established procedures, policies, and safety regulations. Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of maintenance records. u2022 Update maintenance log books. u2022 Signs off work orders to reflect work complete Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with area personnel. u2022 Meets the needs of the customer by completing maintenance functions in a timely manner. u2022 Makes suggestions to improve operational procedures as appropriate. u2022 Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant equipment problems. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. u2022 Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. u2022 Stays informed of maintenance requirements. u2022 Completes special projects as assigned. Work is typically performed under good working conditions; while exposure to any environmental elements may occur, such exposure is generally not present to the extent of being disagreeable.
