JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. Appropriately prepares all dental instrumentationand handpieces for manual or mechanical decontamination to ensure itemsare not damaged during processing. 2. Appropriately selects/uses correctcleaning method (manual or mechanical) and cleaning chemicals requiredfor each item. Accurately loads/unloads and operates washers, soniccleaners and cart washer to ensure items are clean and safe forhandling. Verifies correct cycle parameters. Recognizes faulty equipmentoperations and refers to Supervisor, Lead or Director. 3. Accuratelyidentifies, inspects and assembles dental instrumentation and handpiecesfor all clinic areas to ensure availability and safe and efficientoperation during patient care procedures. Recognizes nonfunctionalequipment or general instrumentation and refers issues to Supervisor,Lead, or Director. (Inspection/Assembly). 4. Appropriately selects anduses correct type and method of packaging for dental instrumentation,equipment and supplies to prevent potential damage and assist in propersterilant penetration. 5. Completely operates all sterilizationequipment and completes required documentation. Monitors and verifiesmechanical, chemical and biological indicators to ensure sterilizationparameters have been achieved. Performs recall if parameters are notmet. 6. Efficiently selects instrumentation, equipment and supplies andprepares and delivers case carts to ensure all items have integrity andare readily available for patient care. Collects lab coats and towelsfrom the clinic and office areas and prepare them for linen pick-up.Sort unusable gowns for replacement. 7. Routinely updates knowledge onprocessing practices, procedures and products. If certified, maintainscertification. 8. Consistently verifies accuracy of all tasks performedand participates in process improvement efforts to increase customersatisfaction. 9. Participates in projects or groups assigned bySupervisor or Director. 10. Attends required meetings and activities atthe Dental School or University. 11. Actively supports and participatesin orientation of new employees. OTHER EXPERIENCE ANDQUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High schooleducation or equivalent required. Good communication, flexibility,interpersonal relations and customer service skills. Ability to work ina team environment. Able to support the department, Dental School andUniversity mission and values required. Computer skills in MicrosoftWord and Excel. The ability to push and pull carts along with standing,walking and lifting of objects.
