Mechanical Test Engineer - Direct Hire

JOB REQUIREMENTS: In this role you will be responsible for the followingprimary activities: Provide customer and sales support related tomechanical testing of materials including pre-sale qualification,quoting, and interpretation of test results. Perform tensile, impact,hardness and load testing of customer supplied samples according toapplicable standards or specifications. Interpret drawings,specifications, and mechanical testing results as they relate to thematerial being tested and the customer's application. Request andcollaborate on non-destructive testing of castings, assemblies, orcustomer components. Review customer load testing requirements anddevelop a testing protocol including design and fabrication of fixturingto meet unique customer required load testing. Organize, analyze, andpresent test procedural information and test results from testing into atechnical report to be presented to the customer. OTHEREXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications and Skills B.S. inMechanical Engineering is desired however a degree in Material Science,or a similar materials or engineering discipline will also be consideredalong with job experience related to mechanical testing. Five years ormore experience in an environment with exposure to mechanical testing.Test method development Strain gauging Data acquisition Knowledge ofphysical properties of materials and material standards including ASTM,ISO, NACE, PED, ASME IX, AWS, CWB, and Military specification Knowledgeof NDE methods, techniques, and acceptance criteria. NDT certificationsare not required but are a plus. Experience with metallographicpreparation, and hardness testing techniques, both macro andmicrohardness. Must have an attention to detail and exceptionalproblem-solving skills. Ability to work independently. Must have stronginterpersonal skills supporting collaboration and teamwork with adiverse group of engineering, operations, and materials management. Mustdemonstrate excellent verbal and written communications abilities.Experience leading teams is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Windowsand Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as anaptitude for learning and working with a variety of applicationsoftware.
