Job Description

As a Senior Chemist, you will develop coating products for Automotive OEM customers. You will lead complex technical projects, drives innovation, and support technology approvals while collaborating across cross-functional and global teams. We ask that you have technical expertise, project leadership, and the ability to influence outcomes and teams without direct authority.PPG offers excellent Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits; matching 401k + retirement savings; and Paid Vacation, Holiday pay.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop products for Automotive OEM customers, including new color and product development projectsLead technology cost, complexity, and performance improvement projectsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, manage, and execute projects using project management skills, process technology, manufacturing knowledge, and internal and external resourcesIndependently plan and direct all aspects of assigned project areas while managing resources and timelines for customer teamsApply root cause analysis and BPI tools to resolve technical, manufacturing, and field issuesLead formula optimization and raw material initiative projectsInfluence technical direction on projects outside of direct responsibilities and lead more than one technology areaSeek out new projects and challenging assignments and clearly communicate action plans to appropriate stakeholdersCommunicate effectively at all organizational levels and motivate peers and associates in cooperative effortsMake difficult technical and decisions and earn support across teams, customers, and partnersFoster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement while driving positive changeLead change programs and guide technology approvalsUse and support standard processes and internal IT tools, including LFA, RMT/OPLA, and INDXQualificationsBachelor's Science Degree in Chemistry or related Engineering or Science field with 5 or more years of coating experienceProject management experience and ability to support multiple projectsExperience in using statistical tools for data analysisStrong experience in technology transfer across different regions (globally)Experience in development of Primer and Basecoat (WB/SB), and Clear coatExcellent communications skillsFlexibility to lead meeting with Japan during the nights/earlier morningsAgility to support unexpected issues outside of office hoursExcellent knowledge of office packages (word, excel, power point) and preferred basic knowledge on power BI, power automate and power apps.Language skills are preferredAbility to travel up to 15#LI-onsiteAbout us:Here at PPG we make it happen, and we seek candidates of the highest integrity and professionalism who share our values, with the commitment and drive to strive today to do better than yesterday - everyday.PPG: WE PROTECT AND BEAUTIFY THE WORLDThrough leadership in innovation, sustainability and color, PPG helps customers in industrial, transportation, consumer products, and construction markets and aftermarkets to enhance more surfaces in more ways than does any other company.
