Nurse Practitioner

The position will work in collaboration with the medical director of cardiothoracic surgery and hospital staff to provide comprehensive care including medical procedures that may be required for a specialty area, utilizing approved standardized procedures as outlined in the NPA, Section 2834 including Furnishing Drugs and Devices, and CCR Section 1480. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Provides leadership, clinical guidance and professional expertise to staff.Analyze pathophysiology for various cardiovascular disease processesDevelop cardiovascular diagnoses, formulate a treatment plan and evaluate patient response to treatmentMonitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventionsUtilize evidence-based medicine practices using quality, cost-effective careEducate patients and families regarding the cardiovascular disease process, including primary and secondary cardiac prevention, while remaining cognizant of the patient's emotional, physical and cultural needsDevelop organizational skills to manage a patient caseloadDevelop effective communication and presentation skills with the interdisciplinary teamPrescription of pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies,Counseling and education to meet patient needsThe position has responsibility for providing administrative expertise in the coordination and delivery of patient care to pre and post op open heart patients in collaboration with the staff caring for the patients and the cardiothoracic surgeon. Additional responsibilities include pre and post-operative teaching, working on the admission process, and patient and family teaching. The Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner is also responsible for collecting STS and CCORP data and presenting this data at department meetings.This position is an 8 hour and On Call.Minimal two years of experience of direct patient care. Broad understanding of patient care process.Minimal one year experience in management position and ability to apply principles of managerial and leadership theory.Possesses good cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care.Able to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing.Must be flexible with work scheduling. Involve discretion and independent action within prescribed limitsMN/MSN required. DNP preferred.Current CA RN license. Current CA NP license.Current furnishing preferred at time of hiring but required within 3 months of hiring. Current DEA license preferred at time of hiring but required within 3 months of hiring.Current BLSCurrent ACLS
