Payroll Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team in Palos Verdes Estates, California. This contract-to-permanent position offers a unique opportunity to manage payroll processes for a local government organization with a mix of union and non-union employees. The role involves working part-time, 20 hours a week, with a schedule of four hours per day from Monday through Thursday. Responsibilities: u2022 Process payroll for approximately 50 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. u2022 Handle full-cycle payroll tasks, including entering and verifying employee timesheets. u2022 Manage manual payroll entries, specifically for overtime sheets from the police department. u2022 Address payroll-related inquiries and provide exceptional support to employees. u2022 Ensure garnishments and other deductions are applied accurately and on time. u2022 Maintain and update payroll records in the Central Square Finance Plus system. u2022 Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations. u2022 Monitor and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal payroll laws. u2022 Assist in preparing payroll reports and summaries for management review. Requirements u2022 At least 1 year of experience in payroll processing, preferably in organizations with 101-500 employees. u2022 Proficiency in full-cycle payroll management, including handling garnishments. u2022 Familiarity with Central Square Finance Plus or similar payroll systems is a plus. u2022 Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing employee records and calculations. u2022 Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a part-time capacity. u2022 Knowledge of payroll compliance regulations at the local, state, and federal levels. u2022 Excellent organizational and communication skills to support employee needs effectively.
