Lab Technician

Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description Under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist, the Lab Technician is expected to perform various functions with a high level of initiative and independence. These functions include the formulation and synthesis of polymers and the testing of adhesives. The technician will evaluate, collect, and record data, participate in organizing and performing experiments using established procedures, and summarize and report results in a laboratory notebook. Additionally, the technician will use a computer to enter data and create charts and tables to communicate project results. The role involves making adhesives from chemical ingredients and preparing coated samples using lab coating equipment to test performance characteristics of coated substrates. Responsibilities + Formulate and synthesize polymers. + Test adhesives for quality and performance. + Evaluate, collect, and record experimental data. + Organize and perform experiments using established procedures. + Summarize and report experimental results in a laboratory notebook. + Enter data and create charts and tables using a computer for communication of project details. + Make adhesives from chemical ingredients. + Prepare coated samples using lab coating equipment and test performance characteristics. Essential Skills + 0-2 years of demonstrated laboratory experience. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. + Ability to understand and follow experimental protocols. + Strong observational skills and attention to detail. + Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English. + Comfort and ability to work with chemicals while following safe laboratory practices. + Ability to stand while working in the laboratory for most of the day. + Associates or Bachelor's degree in a technical field. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Knowledge of chemistry, GMP, and titration. Work Environment The position is within one of the largest adhesive/chemical manufacturing companies in NJ. The work requires standing for long periods and involves working with chemicals in a laboratory setting. The dress code and specific safety attire requirements will be provided to ensure safe laboratory practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bridgewater, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
